Res - How i Do

Call her "Ms. Res"! Pronounced "Reese", this Philadelphia-born sister is bustin’ out with diva attitude. Her vibe is smooth, her style is hyper-chic.

Already huge in Japan, her first single "Golden Boy" is in heavy rotation on the airwaves and her album is climbing the Asian charts. This debut CD is so hip it’s an insult to call it hip. Her lyrics are compelling and Super-Sista Girl Power.

Asked what song on the album best describes Res? "I’d have to say ‘How i do’ because it’s about being young, energetic, carefree, just loving life and appreciating what I have and what I’m doing." That statement could also describe her entire CD. It’s an ingenious mix of soul, hip hop, alternative rock, roots reggae, acid jazz, folk, drum & bass and psychedelic influences. She does it with style and confidence.

Res made the right decision to decline the offer from Epic Records to join the already successful group Groove Theory. Res continued to shop her demo and ultimately signed with MCA. Most of the eleven-track set is produced by Doc. He provides the landscape for this up-tempo fusion. Other hot producers on the CD are A Kid Called Roots (that’s his full name) and Bose, who contribute some of the hottest tracks on the CD. Check out "Hustler" – a trippy groove with lots of bass and a tight hook – and the single-bound "I’ve Known The Garden", which is a self-healing introspection anthem for everyone.

So Dionne Farris, Kina, Macy Gray: y’all better watch your back because Res is about to step to the plate. I really enjoy this CD and I can’t wait for this superstar talent to take America by storm.
