No Doubt - Rock Steady

In the last two years we have seen the likes of Gwen Stefani (front lady of No Doubt) everywhere. She was on countless magazine covers, a presenter at award shows, popping up at movie premieres, live performances and an array of Hollywood parties. She even lent vocals to master sampler Moby’s hit "South Side". But the most courageous joint was her unlikely pairing with tough girl rapper Eve. The song became an instant hit, as well as showing the versatility of Gwen’s talent.

After their introspective Return to Saturn, No Doubt releases their fifth studio album and there is one thing certain – No Doubt wants to have a good time. Rock Steady has the energy of a good ole house party, celebrating freedom, individuality and life.

The band made the right decision. The line up of producers on this CD is inventive: Nelle Hooper, Neptunes, William Orbit, Sky and Robbie, Ric Ocasek (of The Cars) and Prince. Each producer brought out elements of No Doubt that we have never seen. Creating a new wave-influenced album filled with danceable pop.

Rock Steady is a hipper album for No Doubt, spinning such hits as "Detective", a candy-coated lollypop, "Underneath It All" (featuring the explosive Lady Saw), the techno rock cut, "Hella Good", where Gwen delivers the power hook over 80’s guitar riff:

‘You got me feeling hella good,
  so just keep on dancing.
You hold me like you should,
So I’m gonna keep on dancing.’

There is no aggression or bleeding hearts on this CD, just pure Dance Hall meets New Wave. Rock Steady is sure to challenge the minds of Doubters as well as capture the attention of new fans, so put on your dancing shoes and rock on!
