Kendall Payne - Jordan Sister While most women in rock were headlining on the Lilith Fair tour, Kendall was trying to break into a music world saturated with cute girls, catchy lyrics and a guitar. Shadowed by big players like Sheryl Crow, Sara MacLachlan and Natalie Merchant, Kendall was overlooked. She released Jordan Sister in 1999 with a small spark with the hit "Supermodel", a tongue-in-cheek song about hating supermodels as a result of being compared to them. The song is fun and full of irony. Though "Supermodel" proves can write a catchy song, her talent does not stop there. This CD is packed with great pop rock songs. "Closer To Myself", one of my favorites on the CD, is written with a poetic storytelling that only comes from a true artist. This California native is wise beyond her years, writing songs that were inspired by childhood experiences. Her range of emotional stock is breathtaking. Being discovered by producer of Jordan Sister, Ron Aniello, while playing the coffee shops, he states ‘’I was inspired by her insight and passion’’. Kendall wrote and co-wrote twelve of the thirteen songs on her set. Competing with heavy new-hitters like Alanis Morisette, Paula Cole and Meredith Brooks didn’t stifle Kendalls creativity – and the result is a wonderful CD with songs worth listening to. Check out the ballad "On My Bones" – it’s a piano-driven piece that is glorious. Other favorites are "Hollywood", "It’s Not The Time", "Formerly Known As" and "Modern-Day Moses". Kendall has said, ‘All I know is that I love to sing – I love to write – I love it when music moves me. That’s why I keep doing what I am doing.’ We just hope that Kendall keeps recording great music – her talent is not to be missed.
