Aurora UK - Dreaming

There is not one B-side song on this CD. What happened? Released in June 2002, Dreaming went unnoticed here in the States. I ran across it at Reckless Records about a month ago and I’ve been playing it non-stop since. Not many dance CDs achieve the enchantment that is mesmerizing and worthy of, but Aurora has created just that.

A beautiful pop dance CD blending a myriad of sonic sound, guitars, sweet vocals and techno beat, Dreaming is what popular music should aspire to be. Sacha Collison and Steve Robson have craftly carved a deeper notch in dance music. It’s surreal, passionate, colorful and spiritual, a dreamscape of incredibly lush recordings that take the mind on a romantic journey. This CD deserves some props.

The song "In My Skin" is so good – Cher would kill to have sung it. But the vocals by Lizzy Pattinson are unforgettable. The danceability in "This Can’t Be Love" feels like a warm breeze blowing through your hair. You’ll want to run naked through a meadow of spring flowers. Even the down tempo songs are inspiring. "Your Mistake" comes just when you need it – "To Die For" with guest vocals by Mareella Detroit is the icing on the cake.

Aurora even found time to pay homage to a few old school tracks – redone and re-polished are the Duran Duran hit "Ordinary World" and Gordon Lightfoot’s classic "If You Could Read My Mind". Giving total justice to the originals, Aurora took these songs to a sensuous level – breathing a new life in them. This CD is all you need for a Sunday spring drive. If you like Cher’s Believe, you will love Aurora’s Dreaming. All I can say is ’I would have gladly paid full price for this one’.
