Reflection - Paul Van Dyk

Most known for his trance remixes that have conquered dance floors across the globe, DJing is Paul’s foundation – but it’s Paul Van Dyk’s producing and artistic talent that really defines his sought-after appeal. If you caught Paul live at the House of Blues, don’t let his lackluster performance warn you off. His latest CD of original material cannot be described as anything short of "inventive", fusing dance with pop with drum and bass – it is atmospheric and scenic.

Recruiting Jan Johnson, the queen and voice of electronica, to sing on a few tracks was jus what Reflection needed to be complete. Jan Johnson brings depth and creditability to Reflection and warmth that sets the tone for reflection. Composing not just another electronica CD, Paul wrote all twelve of Reflection’s tracks. Lyrically expanding his horizons, Paul’s lyrics are words for the heart, mystical and hopeful.

"Nothing But You", the first single, has been on the dance charts for months, laying momentum for the CD. It is an operatic-trance cut full of big synths, back beats and haunting, airy vocals. The most memorable moment comes at track two, "Time Of Our Lives", and inspiring, poetic cut that is full of hope and passion for life, worthy of being a single. Vocals by John McDaid, "Time Of Our Lives" is one of my favorite songs of this year – it’ll make you go skydiving naked!!!

Other great moments are when Paul takes it Chicane-style in songs like "Crush" and "Connected". Paul has just stepped it up a bit – watch out BT and Oakenfold, Paul is on your heels.
